Unlike conventional gear indicators, this unit connects directly to the diagnostic port, enabling fast and accurate gear detection by reading data from the ECU. Installation is simple and requires no wiring modifications. Note: Gear detection is only possible when the engine is running and the clutch is released, as the motorcycle does not use a physical gear position sensor. Installation Instructions: 1. Locate the 4-pin diagnostic connector (KDS) under the seat near the ECU. It is typically black, grey, or semi-transparent and may have a protective cap. 2. Remove the cap or dummy plug from the connector. 3. Connect the gear indicator plug into the exposed diagnostic port. 4. Route the cable along the frame to the desired display location. 5. Peel off the protective film from the back of the display unit and mount securely. 6. Use included cable ties to secure the wiring, ensuring no interference with steering movement. Troubleshooting: Some models may have two diagnostic connectors. If the indicator does not function on the first, try the second. Connecting to the incorrect port will not damage the vehicle.
