Why it? The maker has an issue (on some units) where the rubber rollers on the paper hold down bar may shift from the edge of the cutting mat, causing cuts to fail. Reposition the rubber and apply pressure, then snap each clamp onto the roller bar on the moving side of the rubber. Additionally, this solution is easy to operate without disassembling the machine. Use pliers to assist in snapping the ring onto the rod if necessary during installation. Replacing the rubber roller typically requires disassembling the machine, which can risk damage.
